Vacation at Taiwan (Day 3)

Day 3

The day started by visiting the Taroko National Park. What's so special with this place? Erm.. you can find mountains every direction you turn to.. It was a very beautiful sight-seeing of mountains and clouds on the top.

Taroko National Park

Cloudy day, nice weather

Aaaahhhhh... heeeelppp!!

After lunch, we went to a stone and jade factory/ shop. There were lots of beautiful sculptures from stones and jades. From this visit, we got to learn how to differentiate stone and jade. Light can go through a genuine jade. =)

Stone sculpture

Vegetable jade sculpture

See? You can see light coming from inside of the vase

The representative's demo to us on how to determine a genuine jade

Beautiful ruby sapphire stars (Each just costs around NT$1500!!!)

I saw my fav character there! MICKEY stone sculpture

The fountain outside

On the list next was visiting Ling zhi & Tea Centre. We were given a little 'talk' on the functions and advantages of ling zhi as well as deer foetus. (P/S: Got to drink ling zhi FOC!!! hehe~)

The browny thing in my hands was a deer foetus (we were told that it is good for respiratory problems), the browny thing on the right was ling zhi

The staff there told us by touch the 'weapon', one can get pregnant. Haha~

We continued our day with the visit to the Rei Suei Leisure Farm where we could find products freshly made from the milk produced by the dairy cows there. Got cheese cakes, special brewed coffee using the milk by the dairy cows, milk nougats. The milk nougats were YUMMY!!!

Feeding the dairy cow

SS at the farm

Before leaving, all got 'hasil' from the farm - milk nougats!!

With the farm visit, we called it day. For the third night, we spent at Taitung, Chihpen Hot Spring!! Our dinner was at the hotel itself. After a rest post-dinner, it's time to 'pao wen quan'!!

The water's clear and it was nearly 40 degree celcius!! Masak-lo

Training on 'qi gong'
After the 'wen quan', end of third day, SLEEP!! =)

Vacation at Taiwan (Day 2)

Day 2

The day started with morning call at 5 a.m. as we needed to board an early morning bullet train trip to Taipei. From Taoyuan to Taipei, it took only 20 minutes, costing NT$125.

Bullet train
Then, we headed to the National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall. Main activity: Camwhoring

'Freedom Square'

Trying to capture a pigeon, haha~

A couple of police buses and cars were stationed there as there was a protest nearby.. GUNJIONG!!!

Next stop was Yehliu Geopark. Here we could found a lot of stones in amazing shapes due to 'hakisan ombak'.

女王头

仙女鞋

It was so windy when we were at Yehliu that most of our umbrella were 'certified'. My MICKEY umbrella... sob sob~~~

Lunch time! We arrived at Jiu Fen to have our lunch and of course, continued exploring.

Our lunch - 'teo chew' fishball noodle (the fishball was HUGE!!!)

Master in making 0-carina (a musical instrument like recorder or flute)

He's playing the tune of 'Colours of the Wind' (One of my fav~~)

There were a lot of other food such as BBQ sotong, fried mushroom, potato & yam balls. And we went to a shop named 阿信 to purchase Taiwan food such as pudding, mua-chi, rice crackers with various types of seeds and 黑金刚 (black groundnuts).

We continued our day by visiting the Nantien Temple. Nearby the temple, there were many stalls selling 花生 + ice-cream roll.

Big block of 花生糖 used in making the roll.

The aunty making 花生 + ice-cream roll for us

After the delicious and 'tongue-numbing' 花生 + ice-cream roll, we headed for the last stop for the day, Ami Aboriginal Cultural Village (阿美文化村). We had an enjoyable time watching a few musical dances about the Taiwan native people. From the show, I learned that in the past, when a couple of native people wanted to get married, the bridegroom needed to carry his bride on his back from the bride's house back to the bridegroom's house (Mind you, people that time might be living mountains apart, haha). Guess, men at that time had to train his stamina first before planning to marry a girl. =)

With one of the dancers at the end of the show

Before checking in to the hotel for the second night, we dinnered. The dinner specialty that night was bamboo rice. The bamboo rice needed to be broken open by smashing it on a brick. You need violence in order to eat the rice, lols

Bamboo rice

End of second day journey.

Vacation at Taiwan (Day 1)

Finally I made up my determination to post about my vacation in Taiwan.
Sorry for my procrastination, hehe~
Okay, here it goes

Day 1

We boarded China Airlines at 2.20 p.m. to our destination, Taoyuan which took around 4 hours. Upon arrival, the Taiwan tour guide, Judy was already there, welcoming us. We then checked in to our first night hotel, Taoyuan Zai Yan Leader Hotel. After that, we walked out around the hotel area, searching for food.

All masked-up before boarding, KLIA

Upon arrival at Taoyuan Airport

First meal in Taiwan

O-ah mee suah

Taiwan smelly tauhu

After dinner, we explored down the street - boutiques, book store and finally settled in a 7-eleven. We spent quite some time in there, buying IDD card, looking at items which were not sold in Malaysia.

So many types of cup noodles & instant noodles

Saliva-dripping of various flavours of drinks

After the 7-eleven exploration, we walked back to our hotel to rest, awaiting for the journey tomorrow...

A 'mou liu' Sunday to Sungai Klah Hot Spring

Last Sunday, 4 mou liu humans mou-mou liu-liu went to Sungkai to spend the day at the Sungai Klah Hot Spring.

Neoh promised to fetch me at 9.45am but since Ms. Cheow claimed that her alarm clock was faulty and didn't ring as it's set, so the journey was delayed a bit. And due to Ms. Jac wanted to breakfast dimsum, (she went at 10am! -.-''), the other 3 members made their way to find her as slow as they could. Finally around 10 something, after buying eggs, we started our journey.

With the driving skills of Ms.Cheow, we managed to reach around 11 something. Whoa, we arrived at such a 'PERFECT' time where the sun was blazing right above our heads... SWEATSSSSSS~

We played at the cool pool mouliu-ly, walking around in the pool, splashing water to each other before heading to the hot spring. We rendam at the hot spring a while until our body meat were 'cooked' and ready to eat then we left for the egg boiling area. Due to some technical errors, our eggs was over-boiled.. (we intended to make half-boiled eggs in the first place). No choice, we ate our 95% boiled eggs with pepper and soy sauce lor.

After bathing, we bought ice-cream at the entrance since it was a hot day BUT.... REGRET! The ice-cream although had pink, yellow, brown and white colours, it only had one taste - santan... With difficulty, we finished up the ice-cream (Mama taught us not to waste food =p).

A snapshot before changing and jumping into the pool~

The gigantic octopus~

Rendam-ing in the hot spring~

Legs in the 30-35 degree celcius water~

Engchi was so happy!! What did she see le??

Eggs for lunch! (The egg which was in pieces belonged to Ms.Cheow, hehe)

Engchi posing with eggs boiling in the hot spring (our eggs were not there as we had already eaten all, haha~)

Group picture before leaving~

We saw this incident when walking towards the car. Wondering how the motorbike got into the drain~

That was our day at the hot spring. On the way back Kampar, we dropped by at Bidor to buy some local fruits - guava (Bidor famous fruit), mango, ciku and sweet sop. Since already at Bidor, sure went to Pun Chun Restaurant la... ate duck drumstick mee and 'wu kok'... but it's quite expensive lor.
With our stomach fully fed, we continued our journey back to Kampar. This trip was held upon request from Dr.Neoh since he wanted to have fun as much as he can before starting his induksi at Terengganu.

A mou liu but fun trip on a Sunday.

Cooking lesson

It's been nearly a month since I last blogged (Anyone missing me here? Seon, I know you do, hahaha~)

I've moved back to Kampar home le and due to my 'LOVELY DIAL UP CONNECTION' at home, that's why I'm absent from the networking world. THANKS to KFC that I managed to made a comeback =) Got free wifi, free air-cond, just a cup of drink then you can sit for the whole afternoon, lols...

I'm back from Taiwan for more than a week, but sorry guys.. haven't posted about it here yet.. cos there're just too much, so I need to organize a bit and simplify first =)

For this post, I want to talk about my cooking lesson with my mum yesterday. =p

Yesterday morning when I was watching TV after breakfast, my mum suddenly called me. She told me that she wanted to visit the saloon and she had prepared all the vege and ingredients, asked me to cook them when it's nearly lunch time. And she left.

COOK???!!

I've never really cook a meal. But since everything was prepared.. so I just put everything inside the wok and let it 'ONE WOK COOKED" Hahahaha~

Dish No.1 - Belacan fried four angled beans

Dish No.2 - Dau jeong yeong Chili

Poor appearance BUT it tasted nicer than how it looked!! =p

Due to the 2 dishes which were a bit 'dry', my mum upgraded them by adding a bit more water to them and re-cooked. Hehehe~ Paiseh..

For dinner, add one more dish - 'lat ji' crab!
My mum taught me how to kill the crabs, cleaned them, cut them into pieces and cooked them.

Pre-killing..

The way to kill a crab - use a chopstick and stab at the centre of its stomach

One of the crab, even it's dead, it managed to take revenge on me! My finger bled. :'(

Done!

That's my day of cooking lesson. I'll improve next time! =)
